It started off as a way to not lose my mind.

This is the single best reason (and motivator) to write poetry.
Try never to lose this.

Now it's a way to get chicks, lol. No, not really.

It's worked for me in the past; unfortunately, it involved pity.     Still...

It's become something else; I don't know what.

I you ever succeed in defining it, tell me... no, wait, don't want to know.
I'm a coward.

I sing nonsense rhymes through the day,

Only if you do it out loud.

romanticize my mundane self at night as I drift off to sleep.

Good start; but to become a real poet, you need to make it a 24 hour thing (no, not sleep, it's the other one).

I share famous poetry on facebook (nobody cares)

Around here, people will care (well, ok, maybe not all the time, but at least 1,000,000 times more than facebook).

We even have a thread for it -- you can find it here.

and like to think myself part of the art scene,

As long as you don't go around dressed in black.

though I don't know any poets (or painters, throat singers, ballerinas, pole dancers, prostitutes), so that's a fiction.

If you stick around, we can fix the "poets" part.
(Actually, a few of the members here can help you with the others.)

Anyway, I don't think I'll be a mover-and-a-shaker here, but it's nice that this place exists; I hope to add something worth while.

Don't worry about the "mover-and-a-shaker" thing; we're pretty much all losers.

And yes, it IS nice that this place exists... for me, it's better than nice.
