This one is sweet, Crundle. 
I normally would view something like this as sticky sweet, cloying, but I don't feel that way about this one.
I like the refrain of almost home. Keeps me engaged -- I really want the speaker to get home. Like Homeward Bound is one of my favorite childhood movies -- that longing to return home is so easily identified with.
