makes sense, even with the mariah carey mention. It doesn't go with the rest of the poem.

it another part that doesn't make much sense.

the purpose of the first stanza is to introduce the topic of the poem, and set the tone for the stanzas to come. generally, i'm trying to express a boredom of winter (winter is nothing new, she's been stuck in my head for months) and then connect that to a discomfort with christmas (hence the fuck mariah carey - the idea is that mariah carey has been stuck in my head for months, not literally winter.) december's ugly-girl make up is a reference to stanza three, in which i describe december as a cold hearted bitch, dolled up in various elements of christmas (the make-up.) 'ugly girl' make up is meant to provide imagery of a woman who wears too much make-up, and looks a little bit off because of it - this is a metaphor for december and the excessive glorification of christmas. i'm sure i could edit the poem a bit and those ideas would come off a bit more obviously, though!
