it depends if it's in the public domain. it also depends what country you post from as it's not the same worldwide. for example if it a Byron poem from an amazon book it carries the copyright of said book. the silly thing is you're allowed to write the exact same poem from a public domain book and it's out of copyright. as for modern poetry; to post it you need permission [in general] that said, if you attribute it you won't go to prison fro it unless you do so and make a profit, you'll just get told off for being a naughty boy asking permission as some have said is a good thing.
if someone posts a poem in facebook no permission is needed as the poet can make it so it shares with all some or none. if it can be shared then there's an intrinsic free license to do so and it's automatically attributed. to simply copy and paste the poem without attribution is a nono.
