My sister bought me an anthology of English poetry written by Filipinos and published from the 60's to the 90's (apparently, it's part of a series of three books, but the other two, spanning pretty much the rest of the century, are out of print). I'm planning to post large swathes of the text here, but I'm not sure if that would be legal, or at least fair.
The book is titled "A Habit of Shores: Filipino Poetry and Verse from English, 60's to the 90's", edited by Gémino H. Abad, Ph.D. My purpose for presenting the book is, as usual, for criticism and education, and I do understand that this forum is non-profit, and generally considered to be private. The nature of the work, as well, is mostly educational, and I feel like it would be practically inaccessible for most users of this forum --- which sort of ties negatively to the last criterion for fair use, since wouldn't posting such rarities here diminish the text's market value? Anyway, as far as I know, firsthand copies of the text can only be bought here, at my university's press, and I'm not gonna post any of the notes Abad presents, which are extensive, only the poems, the authors, and the years of publication, as in the anthology's main body. So -- is it legal? is it fair?
