Poetry is personal and once you get passed the generic "this is cliche" and the "you spelt cheese wrong" critique, what the reader offers to the author is how the poem hit them. Or missed. It's a feeling, not a fact.So, I do have to approach a poem like it's a song. It's a take-it-or-leave-it relationship. Right?
