JMOif i lived in the usa i'd be concerned with some of the powers the national guard have in times of unrest.
through history every country in the world has used and will continue to use the right of martial law in times of civil unrest. sometimes it's been used locally and sometimes country wide.
for me the problem comes not with the use of martial law, but with the misuse of it. i think certain guidelines need to be adhered to and certain permissions to be given before the rule can be used.
for instance, in Myanmar the inception of martial law was a travesty human rights, law and order were not in jeopardy.
