Cross dressing

The Mumps had me swollen,
quiet behind Hamster cheeks
and only three TV channels,
comics helped relieve the boredom.

I decided to design a dress,
red and white
with off cuts from the sewing box
chalk, pins and tracing paper,
hand stitched.
A bit too loose
to fit Action-Man’s chest,
so I gave him false tits,
kept his hair short,
felt tipped red lips
and army boots.
He looked good
on the arm chair catwalk.

It was the first time dad and I
had spoken in days;

The swelling took two weeks
to go down,
luckily I was still able
to have children.
