I originally wrote up a detailed account explaining why I came here, but I opted not to post it. Writing it was tedious and reading it would have been, too. After all, I'm sure we all share similar motivations for being here.
So, I'll keep it short.
Writing poetry has been a personal affair. I've only recently discovered a desire to share it — a notion that seemed taboo not too long ago. However, I must improve as both a writer and reader of poetry enable to do this. That's why I joined this site. I hope to accomplish this by reading others' work, exchanging ideas, and giving/receiving constructive criticism.
Anyways, I look forward to meeting you all. Everyone seems to have a good sense of humor.

Hi, welcome to the site. This is a workshop based on give and take. Just read your welcome letter and if you need some critique tips you'll find them in the important threads of Novice. If you can write a poem I'm sure you can read them.

Hope you enjoy the site, it's a great place to learn, starting with learning to read carefully and critique.
