The Family Tree
Even in broad daylight,
as kids fly high and clear
on the new tire swing,
granddaddy won't go near
that gnarled old southern oak.
He says it’s not alright
that his own grandkid's folks
should let children play here.
But they say, "Pop's, to kids
it's just a tree, and when
they swing now, they swing free."
