By my Hand

By my hand I raised you that you would stay by me.
We learned, each through the other, trust and  loyalty.
Never needing threat or force we understood that faith
lay in a brown-eyed passive stare but now an empty space
is where you lay a'dreaming of every woodland chase;
but by my side, I make believe, you walk and understand
that though you sleep forever, peace was granted...by my hand.

That tapped into my empathy knowing that I had to do the same thing once. The words seem so gentle in this almost like your laying down. It says volumes in just a few words.
