By my Hand

By my hand I raised you, that you would stay by me.
We learned, each through the other, trust and  loyalty.
Never needing threat or force we understood that faith
lay in a brown-eyed passive stare but now an empty space
is where you lay  a'dreaming of every woodland chase;
but by my side, I make believe, you walk and understand
that though you sleep forever, peace was granted...by my hand.

Hi. I have to admit, this poem brought a tear to my eye. It says so much in a few lines. There's a symmetry to it. It ends as it begins. Some poems you only want to read once. This isn't one of them. Thanks for the read, and re-reads :-) Grace

Thanks grace...editing through my own tears is a new experience...life goes on.
