Mummy
I know what I believe I think. I hope
the thoughts I think are mine, that these beliefs are true.
But, when I slip and tumble down a slope
all my thoughts twist and turn so black and blue
that I wonder: ''Are these thoughts really mine?''
If not, this fool wonders who's thoughts are they?
The voice inside my head that spoke this time
so unexpectedly had lots to say.
My secret voice is strong and commanding.
It sounds quite like my poor mother in tone,
but this defies logic's understanding
because it's years since she's been dead and gone.
I am afraid she's living in my head!
Her ghost haunts me. Mummy's not really dead!
