Both my grandfathers were plumbers, my parents met in a plumbing supply shop.

Did you know the correct spelling of augur? I couldn't figure out why the omen part wouldn't come up in the def of auger.

Now that I know it, I can't go back and know if i knew it.  i presume i did but that presumption may be tainted by my current knowledge.

Even the introduction of a time machine couldn't solve our current quandry as i would bring my present day knowledge back with me.

I do know that these were traditionally call "homophones" and that I have traditionally been a big fan of homophones.  Those and homonyms form the basis for many of my riddles.
