Christmas Beggars - a true story

I was caught by a Christmas beggar too.

In the pet food aisle at Pak'N'Save
where I'd wandered by mistake
forgetting for a moment my bird had died.

She looked like my grandmother
and she told me how nice I looked
which made me smile. Then she asked
if I would give her a hug.

She said no one was watching.
I couldn't tell - my eyes
weren't working by then.
