i was lying out in the sun one afternoon reading the finished product
and decided to take a little nap, leaving the book open to the page
my poem was on and setting it down in the grass next to me.
one of my dogs promptly walked over, sniffed the page,
chuffed his disapproval, and then pissed on it.
i've never submitted anything for publication since. i hate that dog.
the cat just likes to play with my crumpled up notes and scribbles.
she had a head injury a few years ago. obviously.
