Tomoffing, thank you for reading and commenting. This began as a song and you're right about L1. one-un doesn't work as a straight read. The painted jamb line has morphed quite a bit, and is still giving me fits. 
I would love to get the word "remember" in the last line, but I need it to reflect the nature of forgiveness and the nature of the word "ain't" at the same time. I hope that makes sense.
