Well sir , If you've got any books out I would like to read them. This was a very good short story but short stories are hard to mold a good murder plot. If you could have, maybe found your old man at the bottom of the stairs without the confession of kicking him down the stairs and your Mom had over dosed on some drug that she had been hiding. Then at the end you could have told Anne as you laid a couple of roses on her grave some time later, not to worry; "there will be no more snide remarks from anyone else, ever, I promise you." Then the serial killer could get busy ridding the world of verbal abuse a little bit moreish, for a while. (maybe with a fresh rose on Anne's grave after each)
