I love how people's ignorance of science can create such wonderful mythologies. "But," they'll say, "stars don't flash, they twinkle."

Ooopss... I had it as "twinkling" when I wrote it and changed it to "flashing" at the last second.
I have a friend who regularly texts me with his UFO sightings that end with "I suppose it's that bloody Serious star again"
