Thats not entirely true. In Ontario and new Brunswick they can indeed search without a warrant. They can then lay charges and they will stick. I am not sure about the rest of Canada but as far as I know the racketeering laws are the same. I have no Idea of the timming or the circumstance of what VF is siting but according to the new laws (approx 4 years old) those charges should have stuck. I remember it being a big deal when they pased the law, at the time I was living in Ontario. Was only supposed to be used to enforce the closing down of drug rings, grow-ops and the like.
