p.s. and yes, your appreciations make me pathetically happy.
I sometimes forget how much I love
Armadillos. It is good to be reminded.

Yes, I love them critters as well.
Down here (at least in my warm, rainy neck of the woods
on the gulf coast) we got lots.
Last year I had one bunk out in my garage for a few weeks.
I quietly snuck in a few times during the day and
found it fast asleep under my drill press.

I like the typewriter font and it's imperfections.
I like armadillos. I wonder if they smell bad. Once I think I saw one run-over in Texas. I was too young to know to be sad.

You posted about 3 banded armadillos, but get this: Nine-banded armadillos almost always give birth to four identical quadruplets.
I wanna be an armadillo baby now.

Also: They often have a bad reputation due to the fact that they are the only animal other than humans that can contract leprosy, but cases of humans getting leprosy by handling armadillos are extremely rare.

Who knew??

(http://www.nwf.org/wildlife/wildlife-lib...dillo.aspx <-- Well they did I guess.)

The cycle of life and love... poems are pretty much the only place
you can mention this with a straight face. Smile

Nine-banded armadillos are the type we have around here. Have seen
a few babies when a mom stayed in my garage for a few weeks.
... and that would explain why I only thought there was one as
they were identical.
And good thing about the rareness of leprosy infection as I have picked
them up quite a few times. Usually dead ones that didn't make it across
the street. (And yeah, I should wear gloves when picking up anything dead.
I think I subconsciously forget because I think it's a sign of disrespect.) Smile

Always know when one's around because they mercilessly root up
the yard. OK with me, just making a living. Besides, while the lawn
is temporarily torn up; it gets aerated, fluffed up, and de-grubbed.
