Looks like you have become trained to accept being imprisoned and to call it freedom. That happening here would not be acceptable at all. It would be unthinkable to allow this type of search without proof of wrong doing before hand. It says that the total population are criminals and need to have regular shake downs to look for contraband. Guilty until proven innocent.
I now understand why you see what is happening in north America as nothing to worry about. I now see why all this conspiracy theory and debunking is going on. I now see that it has really already happened to a point over there that it has become common place. Sorry for your troubles, wish I could help.

What are you on about? I have lived here for years and not once have I been searched by the police. We're not talking about everywhere in random places.

I'm talking about derelict neighborhoods that have a lot of violence, a lot of it being drug-related. Are you telling me we shouldn't send the police? Look at Rio de Janeiro - the place was so bad they had to send in the army.

The authority that is doing these searches isn't searching everyone - they are checking people who are most likely to do something stupid such as stabbing someone. And they want to prevent that. And if it makes the streets safer in Manchester, London or anywhere else - I guess once wouldn't be the end of the World. And this is not happening cos "my government is taking control of me." It's because of public pressure on the police.

What exactly does any of that have to do with the OP? The fact is they can and will do it anywhere and any time they want to in the future. You have said it is ok.
So how do you tell exactly who is going to do what in a random search, lol. A search where no person has done anything to warrant being searched?
That happens in prisons on a daily basis. They just search everyone because they are in fact criminals. So what you have there is different in what way? All of the people being searched surly must be criminals I take it? If not then why are they being searched and treated as such? What you have is a total police state just one step down from marshal law and you seem to think it is OK. It is not OK to remove the rights of a society to stop some so called crime that may or may not be committed. You have a problem with crime just like everyone else but the way to stop it is not by living in a prison with out bars.
This so called public pressure is in fact the result of mass media propaganda perpetrated to extract a police state in which the public believes they have asked for. It's old hat and has happened many times before in history but never before on a world stage. I did not know to what extent for sure untill you posted that this was so deeply involved there. You read things but to have someone I actually know some what write a responce to a thread I posted on the topic and express himself the way you did, I must say it is really true, they have all but won out over there.
