Why is "dawn’s" possessive?

That is a a good question! It's a matter of anthropomorphizing, I suppose, like the difference between saying morning light or morning's light. In this case where the plant life is animated there is probably no reason to make dawn alive as well. Nonetheless, for some reason, it sounds better possessive to me.
