you can by all means leave a coputer open so everyone and his da can go on it but all you#re doing is sharing a file. you need a host to get it on the netmany site allow this to happen free, tell em dubs url and i'll join. one of the reasons it has to be on the web is so that it can have an url.
you need the equivilent of an ftp server abd a pc is not that. any url from a pc a far as i know is not a .com, org or anything else.
he can shre files from a pc but you won't run a forum from off your pc.

i back up my blog and forum to my pc. that isn't the problem you have. your pc is not an ftp server. which i assure you is what you need to use. it doesn't have to be your own but you have to use it.
