Even if the errant lines were plain old hexameter/tetrameter instead of alexandrines (which they are) you could still write a sonnet with them. Fixed forms tend to have a fixed meter. As you've said, this isn't a fixed form just rambling in quasi-ip. I have moved it to fun. I would change the title to ramblings in quasi-iambic if I was you, but that's just me.
