I'm often as off putting as they come.

OK. But that hardly answers my question. What linguistic or sonic or metrical elements and/or concrete appeals to the senses that are generally thought to be characteristic of poetry and which distinguish it from prose, appear here? What is it here that makes your piece a poem rather than a journal entry?
