and that's how you make cliche work. not realizing you used a cliche is seldom a good thing. Using them with intent aforethought on the other hand can be quite witty, (but they still have to work in such a way as to not fall flat on their face , these didn't )

The irony is that it looks like it might be the poem of mine that will get the most views and comments and I didn't really write it, but I don't mind, it still makes me laugh and I've read quite a few times now.
