Yesterday at the theater

Eager yet exhausted parents
anxiously await the end of theater class.
Rising little stars beaming
towards their Moms and Dads,
softly humming the infamous
Jellicle Ball jingle
they will not soon forget.

My shining star appears dimmer today
as she emerges from class,
Macavity sticker affixed to her shirt
with her well portrayed pout.
"Oh my God, what now?"
hovers in a bubble above me.
My child, with a sad-faced dejection
clouding otherwise jubilant eyes
is in need of a mommy rescue.
