Difficult to offer a critique because, according to the title, the piece doesn't aspire to more than a nursery rhyme. I thought there may be a more profound message embedded within but if there is I can't find it - tho this wouldn't be the first time I missed the startlingly obvious.
So N implores the 'fairy moon' to come down (from its position in the sky) wondering why it stays there alone. Were this a 'poem' striving for credibility the beginning would perhaps have explained/contextualized the anthropomorphic tactic and why the moon's a fairy!
N asks (?)moon to sing prettily and swing the baby to sleep. Again a poem looking for identity might suggest a reason, beyond the obvious, why N wants the baby asleep or perhaps create a more sinister mood examining what's meant by "put him to sleep".
Apologies for not being able to offer more than this.
