I think angst poems are okay. Lots of great writers were (and are) emotionally troubled people, and for them writing is a way to vent. It actually is. It can have the same use as a diary, except its not literal, it's just you breathing your emotions.

The thing is, if the piece is meant to be read in a professional light, then the challenge for the writer is to not go on an emotional journey by himself/herself, but to be able to take the reader to that place as well. To rattle them into a different perspective. In a way that's why suicide poems are hard, because you end up going to a place where the reader can't follow Sad

A way to make this work for the audience is to keep it short and visceral:

'with this razor
I slice free
from my skin
to the sky'

But it's important to keep writing and letting out that emotion.just keep writing.
