And not to seem like I'm defending it - you did EXACTLY what I was hoping for - but the reasoning behind the use of vernacular you grew tired of was meant to portray the narrator as an elderly man from the old west (perhaps sitting in a rocking chair) telling a tale about the politics of vultures.
