Okay, I've been reading this with interest - personally I would side with Assange because I really like the fact he shit-stirred with goverment files and whatnot, even though he is a dick - and to be honest Billy, I get some of what you're saying, but I also think you are underestimating the situation and it's relevance. It doesn't really matter how actually useful anything Assange dug up was, the fact is, he dug it up and made it public. He isn't going to be the last of his kind. Whatever you want to say of him, it takes a lot of guts (or stupidity) to do something like that. Even if the work itself isn't him, his face is all over it, and I would be enormously surprised if he genuinely prized fame over freedom/his life. Whatever, really, I don't know him, I can only judge him based on his actions, which thus far I've always approved of. But the real importance of it is it means people are fighting for freedom of information and are finally starting to retaliate against corrupt government. It's a stepping stone.
Also, he lied about wearing a condom? Not only does that sound like bullshit, but from personal experience, a penis and a condom covered penis feel pretty different. I can't speak for every girl in the world, but I can tell the difference to the point I find it harder to enjoy sex when using them, so I would say she is lying.
Although I admit I don't understand why Ecuador is really getting involved. The president is very corrupt. But they do have some good policies as well as shite ones, much like every other government in the world. Censorship happens everywhere, even in countries which claim it doesn't c: Asides from that, it is definitely not okay for the UK to fuck with Ecuador over this.
