I ponder now on how we were,
your calm, my haste in letting go
to set you free that you might taste
my restlessness, your un ran chase.
You settled on the one who strayed
She conquered you in unchaste ways
I stood, I watched, then turned away
why loiter where you bit her lure
Full knowing that you were unsure
I turned-- yes walked away.
I struggle hard to see your face,
the one you had that didn’t fit
I taste the saltiness of lips
that kissed and held
with youths embrace I wonder now
what of might have been, if I had stayed
and sent her merrily on her way
but that is not my way
what might have come of it, who knows?
in this new game of let’s suppose ,
the day I took away your choice.
