government

i ask you people, what's a government for?why do we need one in the first place?
for me the answer is simple, they should regulate a few things for us,like healthcare, education, sewage disposal etc.
NOT be there for their own sake, giving each other cushy jobs, lifetime pensions and in general ripping of the unorganized, the citizen

Its primary responsibility is to provide fair courts and safe streets.

Everything else (social safety net, industrial interventionism, etc.) that a government does is optional.

True. But we are greedy. And this whole secrecy behind a government means that you can crook things your own way. And the snowball begins Undecided.

But we do need them as they bring mostly an overall benefit.

i think we need them as well. just wish they we're as thick as pig shit and as devious as someone whose devious. things are that bad now, we wouldn't believe the truth if it was spread on bread and fed to us.

I think government should be there to enforce the best approximation of justice and parity in an increasingly complex society, to prevent a "law of the jungle" scenario where the strong shaft everyone else, unchallenged. That's why governments that are corrupt and who rule with terror are, to me, hypocrites of the highest order.
PS. If you can, try your hand at giving some of the others a bit of feedback. If you already have, thanks, can you do some more?

You have just in fact described the way the world spins addy. The strong in fact do shaft the meek. It is the law of the jungle. All governments are corrupt and rule by terror. The hypocrite pool is a vast and all encompassing sea. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely to coin a phrase.

But would you rather have a hypocrite in power and some sort of order, or complete chaos and utter freedom? Undecided

I think it will never be possible to extract the Hippocratic gene or the inherent need to control others. This would infact result in the downfall of the human race. It's part of our natural make up and some are more prone to these two than others. We live by the rule of the survival of the fittest and we try to mask it by using terms like civil and civilized.
Thats all well and good until we forget that it is only a device we use to keep our base instincts in check.
I would submit to you all that the ruling class on planet earth have not submitted to the checks and balances of a civilized planet but rather use them to control the rest of us.

All parties and forms of government are currently run by the same ruthless elite. If you think they are not your living in the dark, exactly where they put you. Governments every where are no more than CEO's running the show for the elite at the top of the food chain.

I would go a step further and say that they have used racism and religion together as the most lethal weapons ever devised on this planet. They have divided us through the use of rasism and conquered us through the use of religion and the fear of a god or of a devil, take your pick they both work, one just as well as the other. The entire human race revolves around these issues and I say they are man made and have done their job very well. People say that knowledge is power. I myself accept knowledge as the only true power in existence. Imagine for a minute that what I have said is in fact true......got that?
Now imagine that you are part of a small group of families that go back thousands of years.....got that?
Now imagine that these families have had that knowledge all this time and are presently the ruling elite.
It's a profound thought to say the least and I believe it to be true.
Of course I could be just another wack job too but it sure is interesting if you do a little research just how much of this can be backed up with historical fact's.
