Perfection
#1

Many searching for affection
in a mate, desire perfection
but forget to look within.

Thus, in making a selection
lacking total circumspection,
overlook whence they have been.

I have done much introspection,
as regards this predilection--
my conclusion's found herewith:

Visualize a Love Connection,
as you view your own reflection--
for perfection in a mate's a myth!

Like many who have loved and lost:
These days, I weigh the final cost.
For as I've loved, I've also learned:
Love's worth the price of getting burned.

Wonderful sentiments, Sid -- perfection is so utterly dull anyway, who'd want it?

(could you get rid of "for" in S4 L3?)

It could be worse

So true, it is indeed dull.
Yes, I can and will remove "for." Thanks for making me aware of it and appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.

Since I am no sycophant, I have to say,
while praising overall because it made me laugh,
that one word is wrong and yet that word must stay.

Simply, one can come or go whence,
but one cannot merely be whence.
'where' might be more suitable
hence-- but rather dull. Big Grin

Abu,
Good point. I originally used "where" and indeed see it as more dull. Whence was literally a last-minute change and, admittedly, I did not consider it quite as carefully as you have.
