Exhortation

Come poets all, take up the chant
and onwards let us boldly go:
we hunt the common sycophant.

He seeks with praise to so enchant
the vain, by trite and fawning show --
come poets all, take up the chant

of this bone weary hierophant
who feels it’s well past apropos
we hunt the common sycophant.

How tiring his generic cant
that panders to the status quo:
come poets all, take up the chant.

To raise the bar and thus supplant
all those who seek to keep it low,
we hunt the common sycophant.

With bludgeon or asphyxiant
we seek to stem his smarmy flow.
Come poets all, take up the chant:
“We hunt the common sycophant!”

I want to speak this little ditty, especially the chant, in an Elmer Fudd voice.
PS. If you can, try your hand at giving some of the others a bit of feedback. If you already have, thanks, can you do some more?
