checking on where we are i the page show, we seem to have slipped quite a lot. i think it because out forums are hidden. or the main poetry forums.
so i have a suggestion. we open up the poetry forums and make just 1 forum a hidden forum where people decide on what kind of crit they'd like.
the poems in this forum would be hidden. a poet could move or ask a mod to move any poetry over they don't want googled.

the reason i say this is; while testing to see if the poems were on show when googled they weren't, most however were on show somewhere else which sort of makes us making most of the poetry section moot.
so would people in the main be happy with one hidden forum? please reply.
(i sound like a right soft arse with my please reply don't I )

		I am ok with it.

PS. If you can, try your hand at giving some of the others a bit of feedback. If you already have, thanks, can you do some more?

I think it's doable. We can just have a hidden poetry forum for certain works that members want to keep private

Is there already a hidden forum which I don't know about, as it's hidden? What is this business about poems turning up somewher else? Maybe I am famous, but have a hidden readership, and even more closely-guarded royalties?
As I understand, there are now novice, mild, serious and fun poetry forums , three of which would be amalgamated, with people having the choice of requesting a more or less detailed crit, and the other would in effect be where people could keep their stuff, as drafts almost, prior to shifting over, or allowing a few mates to look at? Am I warm?

I would think along the lines that poems for critique are unfinished works. Maybe have the unhidden forum titled "Members Works" or something where pieces are moved to after they have passed through the gauntlet. Sort of like a status symbol I suppose, to have a piece posted there. It may be an incentive to write better stuffs more gooder

  almost.

whie some care about having their poetry hidden, some don't I'm one of the latter. as it is now, google is lowering us on the search pages because we only have a small presence when it takes a look.

my idea is that we have 1 hidden forum where poets can hide thier work and ask for what crit they wish, and keep the other forums on show for the world and google to crawl.

we still keep the novice mild and serious forums but we keep them open.

Naw... it would be up to the author to repost it there, some may not want it and the old version would remain so others could get an idea of how it evolved.

I used to be kinda peppered all over the place and fought hard to clean that up so I am down with whatever you all decide... If my vote counts. Hidden forum sounds like its right up my alley.

it counts though i'm just looking at how people feel for now.in general your poems can't be read on the poetry boards already.
sadly that stop google crawling the site and putting us out there on the web as it should.

my idea is to have 1 hidden forum and the rest open.
we could call it the hidden poetry forum.

 but it's just an idea.

I still think you would be better off just implementing this plugin http://mods.mybb.com/view/hide-to-guests
Anyone who wants to keep their stuff hidden from guests and google, on any board, is then free to do so by simply enclosing it within tags.

Everyone else who wants their stuff seen, or doesn't care whether it is seen, is free to carry on unencumbered.

it sounds okay but often the original is quoted in the reply and if there's no tags it can still be googled.
i think the spoiler tag we use would do the same thing,

in hindsight, if it were quoted in a reply, it would still be in a spoiler tag wouldn't it

i think

can everyone look at the spoiler idea and tell us what you think.by using them people can see the writing outside the spoiler such as the general feedback, IE,
i really liked how you played of x against y

 we could create one that says;

[see poem]my best poem [hide poem]

No, there's a significant difference between hide tags and spoiler tags.

With spoiler tags, the server sends the "hidden" text down to the browser (or to google) along with an instruction not to display it. But it's still there, and google will index it. You can see for yourself by right-clicking on the page, selecting "view source" and then searching for cawk.

With hide tags, the server doesn't send the hidden text at all. So there is nothing to display, and nothing for the search engine to index.

EDIT. Also, when people quote posts containing text within hide tags, the text is NOT copied forward (as it is with spoiler tags).
