A Modicum of Dignity
#1

I'd never thought about it much
though nowadays I do:
Acquiring wrinkles, turning gray
and taking naps at Two;

eating oatmeal every morn--
foregoing beans and spice,
then hitting the buffet by four
to get the senior price;

yelling at the neighbor kids,
who dare play on my lawn;
playing Checkers in the park
with others up at dawn.

Yet if I must, I guess I shall
rethink it all anew:
Aging somewhat gracefully
with just a modicum of dignity--
and doing it with you!

This is a charmingly lyrical love poem filled with warm insight which really made me feel all snug and toasty insideSmile Great stuff.

Love it -- beautiful, easy-to-read meter and rhymes, excellent enjambment, I really like the change of pace that extra line in the last stanza gives also. And it made me smile, which is the greatest challenge of all Smile
It could be worse
