Write a poem about something revered or loved from the aspect that that thing is something negative (i.e., Anti-Unicorn, Anti-Rainbow, Anti-Mom & Apple Pie, Anti-Puppy, etc).

Tea and Toast
Those mother hens that fuss and fluster;
who hug, and mend their broken child
with antiseptic care, funny they’re not there
when step-dad plugs the little butt and whips a welt
across your young son’s naked arse.
Of course you didn’t hear your child’s scream;
It’s understandable that sipping tea and eating toast,
somehow dims the noise of daddy love and scratching nails
How many cups, how many slices, did it take to drown
The noise of screams and wails, of kicking feet
against the lino-covered floor; how often
did you simply close your kitchen door?
And when I bled, what did you think
You said I lied, though in your stare I saw you knew
Somehow mom on looking back
The real blame lay with you.
we have a couple of days left for this to run, please take part.

damn billy...
Of course you didn’t hear your child’s scream;
It’s understandable that sipping tea and eating toast,
somehow dims the noise of daddy love and scratching nails--this line is definitely my favorite in the piece...double damn
How many cups, how many slices, did it take to drown
The noise of screams and wails, of kicking feet
against the lino-covered floor; how often
did you simply close your kitchen door?
Those lines are a strong indictment. I like how you shifted from the distant to the personal in the last stanza.
Mothers have officially been stomped on (check)
Best,
Todd
