Playing Poet
Without a cat's weight
poems fly away like house wrens
darting from the eaves,
glimpsed but never caught in hand;
man is just the conduit.

Sleep Flees On Padded Paws
As one eye opens
they sense movement, converging,
maybe night is done.
Coffee brews at 3AM,
purrs overwhelming dreamsongs.

Best Garden on the Street
My Garden is beautiful
-- it's where cats go
to murder mice.

Ooops, just noticed this was in fun section and here I am posting about murderous felines.
Just to clarify, is it short poems about cats or poems about short cats

Writing the poems is fun, all subjects are fair game. Ideally there should be a pet in the vicinity but honestly I'm fine if there's not.
I enjoyed yours. Poppy
Also, I have nothing against non-domesticated animals, feline or otherwise.

cat my love come creeping
sun-eyed with pricking whiskers
paws shrink down to needles
in the gloomy light.
cat my love come hunting
muscles twist and twine
in your sleep while dreaming
foes have come to play.
insert third stanza here
hung out with a teenager and toddler today in sequence, so the brain she has gone
nobody cried or vaped, me included, not to brag

Triple play! That's something to brag about.

Dog-walking in the dim recession of sunlight
curve of yr shoulder
stark lamp-lit
a haunch of rabbit, fish-eyed
a still life
neighbor the washing up is in yr kitchen
same as I

to a cat
one day you might
allow me to get close
enough to be able
take the bell off you
it doesn't serve its purpose anyway
it's cruel
but not as cruel
as the hideous
tartan bow-tie
holding it

I fed my cat daily
around 4pm.
An afternoon ritual
she eats throughout
the evening.
I fed my cat at 3pm.
Because somedays
anticipation is overrated.
I fed my cat at 12pm
because I'm home
and feeling guilty
about eating alone.
I fed my cat at 9am
so my cat isn't
trying to flee
before I go to work.
Its 7:30am and I'm feeding
my cat pretending this decision
belongs to me.
