well-meaning comments, I am not getting better

I wear six braces
(wrist hip ankle knee)
      to come into work
        to walk in the woods
     with my dog
              leashed

A walk in the woods,
any woods
in any season
a lucky day.
Smart to leash
any dog in the woods,
so much to run after,
a good day.

Work, braces,
everything else
happens, we deal.

The difficulty
is finding a comment
that's not well-meaning.

yet I sweep the forest floor with it
and no trail appears

let clouds scud across the sky
observers we, dear heart
