Yeah, I got surprised by a locked thread too.
A go around would be to start a new one, same title (CONT), link to the locked thread and I think you can still copy and paste a post if you wanted to respond directly to something.
Putting it here works too
You guys can blame me for the closed thread. When Milo made his triumphant return on Christmas morning, there was some concern within the more paranoid among us that his account may have been compromised. The thread was closed out of an abundance of caution and by the time Milo reposted in the Sewer, the concern was mostly alleviated. (Link Below) Apologies to Milo and those who didn't find the repost.

This poses several questions.
What's with the 'goose' fascination?
Why 'a dog on a chair smoking a cigar', when all the others were geese?
However, more importantly, a goose android terminator please.

sometimes humans find patterns in unrelated data when it's posted all together like this when it's probable it is just a coincidence.

this is a good question and I don't quite remember

excellent choice!

The Internet vs the Pen vs My Device
So I can copy and paste from AI but I prefer to not assume that's accurate.
When I go to any site and try to copy and paste a poem or definition into a post here it doesn't work. Is there a trick I'm missing or is it my old device or is it impossible?

Whenever I have tried to copy and paste recently it pastes it as extremely small text. Then I have to highlight it and then change the size of the text with the tools above the box. Don't know why this is happening but it may also be the case when you are trying to paste.

Use font size to make bigger; or paste as plain text, in which case you'll have to reformat your italic and bold or whatever.
Sometimes, if you paste quotes or sections from other parts of the screen, the size and font will get out of synch. To which you have to square by trial and error.

Yah - there is definitely a configuration broken that defaults the font size on paste to 1. After you paste, you will see what looks like a black line, select the whole line and adjust the font size to 3 or 4. The tool tip for font size adjustment is a capital A with a 2 sided up/down arrow next to it

Nope, I think may have to do with the sites not being actual text. Here's on of the dictionary sites.
: moderately slow —usually used as a direction in music
andante
2 of 2
noun
: a musical composition or movement in andante tempo
ha, it work fine in the quick reply box, couldn't get it in new thread, gonna try again.
: moT
derately slow
—usually used as a direction in music
andante

noun
: a musical composition or movement in andante tempo
This is the same thing in the
TT
That one is the new reply
Okay, here if I edit I can use the increase font size to see it, thanks, gonna try again in new thread.

For the new thread I have had to post it and then edit it - shrug

Good morning! Thanks everyone for the posting tips, I was able to post from notes on my old laptop instead of switching to my old iPad. Both are in shock after being woken from a long sleep. Have a good one!

It's a miracle! Good thing this is an old site, nothing can update except my phone, my laptop stopped being able to Zoom a few months ago which was all I was using it for and my ipad has that old fat charging port lol but try to access the Pen and voila, magic.

Today was the first day since October that the sun set after 5pm.
Tomorrow is the first day since October that the sun rises before 8am.
At last the sun's arc has moved above the Douglas Fir and hit the back wall unobstructed.
I feel like a definite threshold has been passed.

Been hovering around -15C here for almost a month. Today is 1 degree above zero and feels like spring.

First - I feel like you have a poem in there somewhere.
Second - yah, it's been so cold around here the chickens come up on my back deck and stare at me accusingly through the glass - "Make it Warm!!!" the squawk
Today it will be over 50 (for a bit). It is like the feeling of hope. The promise of spring

Today is the first day it's not single digits here but I don't seem to win the prize. It's not unusual to hit that, just unusual to stay there this long. Everyone is crying about their energy bills. The ice fishermen are happier than they've been in years. I'm happy with my alone time while my guy has been working on his exwife's frozen pipes all week. But she gave him a haircut. It's almost April.

It’s the opposite here in Australia
We’re moving from a slightly cool mid summer into a hot and humid late summer and I’m looking forward to a sunny winter with daytime temperatures comfortably in the teens
