Magic Serum
Lashes, long and lush,
Orbs sunken deep,
Discolored lids,
Eyes dry as you sleep.
Yet lashes stay vast and plush,
So isn't it worth it?
To bat those lavish lashes,
While your face looks like horse shit.

We tell you to brush your dog
But that's not going to work
It must be done every day
The very least once per week
You must also use a comb
And work it down to the skin
Tangles turn to mats and can
Become impossible to save
Peanut butter honey banana sandwiches

Weekly Calendar
It is a small rectangular
vinyl-plastic box
with seven elastomerically
self-hinged trap-doors
sealing its seven square wells
each molded and printed
with the abbreviated name
of a day of the week.
Inside each well
(except for today’s)
reside six pills of varied
shape, size, color
and alleged effect.
Fear not! Of the six
two are mere vitamins
one is baby aspirin
and of the other three
one’s for the heart
and the other two are not.

Reflect on how the bird
requires no such routine
to feed itself, the cat
to wash itself, the dog
to find a mate. Reflect on how
the sun forever rises to reflect
on his Creator, the rain innately falls
in beads or knotted ropes, the wind
knows without having to be taught
all eight tones. Reflect on how the grass
congregates, on how the earth
by rising into various hills and mountains
fashions various churches, on how the sea
nourishes so much life
however brackish it may be. And then reflect
on cups of instant noodles gathered
for security, on water bills,
on having to apply
with bloated guts and swollen feet
for maternal leave:
self-care is self-deception born
of public apathy.

That is not a bad poem
I don't like the word shit in it
