Pride month
isn't about your sexuality.
It's not about your pronouns
or genitals.
Pride is people
punished for being themselves,
their thoughts and actions
desperate to align.
Pride isnt proud.
It's survival, self control
and understanding,
It's community.
Pride month
includes you, and me
teachers, mayors, doctors
our parents and kids.

Laddie's Gone
Queer thing about my dead dog Laddie
was he hated the rain and loved the snow.
I'd get so pissed when he wouldn't come out
when he clearly needed to go,
and even more pissed when he wouldn't come in
from some Shackleton voyage
he'd found himself in.
And now I hear there's a science to it,
but Laddie's gone and his master blew it.
Laddie's gone.

Science to staying out in the snow but not in the rain? Didn’t get that

Thank you for sharing this. It has been a revelatory read for me. Our daughter came out about 6 years ago. I thought we (her parents) were being pretty supportive, but this has made me realize that we have more to do than just be supportive of a daughter. We need to be more thoughtful towards others beyond our daughter. Thanks again.

Small Town Woes
Small town Joe is full of woes,
of which he can not change.
Where is one supposed to go,
when his favorite Pho,
is miles away.
Not to mention a burger deluxe
from his favorite greasy chain.
Turns out he is out of luck,
His stomach growls with pain.
Old friends live the dream,
a miracle they call delivery.
His life right now is a bad theme,
if only there was a distillery.
Food is on his list of concerns,
spirits, joy, friends, and love as well.
When will his life take a turn?
Getting out of this small town spell.
Will Joe ever find his one true love?
A handsome find with spectacular sugar buns?
Holding hands and cuddles in his thoughts.
There is something I should mention,
something I forgot.
Living in a small town can be rough,
even if it is for a slight stay.
Hold on Joe you are tough!
The sole soul in this town who is gay.
---Wrote this poem years back. Being a Bi male from MT i've had queer friends that have lived in remote / religious / conservative eastern MT. Wrote this poem with that idea in mind.
Happy Pride Y'all.

Every Business in America
Finally at end of day
Returning rainbows to gray
We showed our support I say
This whole month in disarray
June thirtieths last soiree
Everything will be okay
Time to put the gay away.

Grey Havens
We were robbed
by our time
of our last kiss.
Why does the sea
go on, unceasing?
Why do waves lap
at seashell-crusted pillars
rising out of sand?
Why does the sun
set into water?
Don't have kissed me
on my forehead
when my lips
were dried by salt
of tears. Turn back time
to when love was
broader than the ocean,
swifter than the wind,
and more constant than heaven.
Turn back time
to before the Ring
and the Straight Road.
(wrote this on June after a LOTR rewatch -- it was a fanedit that better kept to the books -- and found the final moments somewhat frustrating? like, it's frustrating that modern western audiences, at least of the time, were presumed to be turned off by any such gestures of gayness, even when such a gesture would have been the most appropriate for the relationship the films presented. like, even if a mouth-to-mouth kiss isn't strictly a romantic thing, which it wasn't, the fact that sam and frodo went through all of that -- the fact that they became equals, with sam rescuing frodo and even becoming a ringbearer himself -- and the fact that the world is old-fashioned enough to have such a rigid class system as what defined sam and frodo's relationship at first yet modern enough to be so "not-gays" when it comes to a darn kiss -- ugh!)
