Torture and temptation

The copper pot is strapped to my stomach
the rats inside can feel the flames
their gnawing is my only escape,
I want to break out of this skin.

Each day I feel them scratching,
a quiet need that cries like a child
trapped in a separate dimension,
only alive so the monster can feed.

I shouldn't have come here tonight
the leather straps are lay on the floor
the rats run free and there are no
disappointed faces to stop me.

I approach the confessional
and ask a stranger for forgiveness,
he wipes a glass and absolves me
of my sin's and so it begins, again.

Corruption 3:16

It’s become a commonplace
that as with Roman emperors
who in due course were deified
and oriental Sons of Heaven
power when unbounded tempts
to violate all principals
established for its governance.
How could it then be otherwise
that not one single Supreme Being
whether out of love or just
to get His messages recited
could refrain from tampering?

And Happy Easter!

I prepared to seat myself on a park bench
under the noonday sun -
but something inside me cried, 'clench
your gluteus maximus, run!'

For the bench had been sat upon,
spat upon, scat upon
previously -
by coronavirus carrying zombies and their dogs,
during a breather between jogs,
and I'd rather sit on a Fermi pile,
roll for a mile, call my kids Kyle,
than sit on that envirated log.

Temptation

I am the thirst in your desert,
the heat haze promise of water.

Our time together will be measured
with a stopwatch, not a calendar.

You are a fish, and I the bait
covering each hook.

I wrap myself into a gift and dare you
to leave me unopened.
