They will only give Sponsored Links on some searches. If I type "English" I get plenty adverts. If I type "SuprBay" then I get none.

It's based on how relevant it is for business, I think. Giving the user the idea that they're ad-free.

Took me a while to get to google.com. It would instantly redirect to google.co.uk

Back on topic, ads are still there even if maybe not for everyone.

To be honest, the change is not that bad it will just take people a while to get used to it. A bit like when anything is introduced to the Internet Community, the predecessor will always be preferred.

Take examples of Steam, The Pirate Bay, Google , Firefox etc...

Eventually people come round to realising it actually might be useful x).

it never used to have that left hand column bob. first you tube had it now google has it.

you're half-right about the column at your left. you had the possibility to display it or remove it. it didn't show by default. now the story is different, since it's displayed by default and you can't even remove it (at least i haven't figured out how).

is yahoo the same or can it be removed?
if anyone finds a way to do it let us all know please.

i guess it's just a matter of taste. i'm not into it because i dislike bells and whistles and being led where i didn't ask to go
