The streetlights have only just come on
and Father’s summoning whistle
stabs into the park.

I could kiss you quickly
(before it gets dark)
and have an excuse
to turn and run.
Is this about pedophllia in the Catholic Church?
I am a catholic myself and am frankly quite tired of people picking on my faith.
If something else was intended then it’s not clear enough, at least for a reader like me
For Christ's sake, think poetry not propaganda, we're still rebuilding the church after the last storm.

Someone's upset he wasn't touched up by a priest...
I would have to work incredibly hard to fit any kind of negative connotation to this poem. What I get from it is overwhelming innocence, like the "kiss chasey"
games we used to play in the schoolyard -- a kiss that you immediately bolt from, then spent the rest of the day thinking you'd done something tantalisingly wicked and wondering if that's enough to get pregnant

		please don't tinker with it.
it really is perfect.
it's edgy, but it is full of truth, too.
the title (not subject to only a date)
even reads wonderfully and adds to it all.
it's poetry, and shines the beauty of a poet
being, well...a poet, because the pen will always hold power
to weaken even the strong.
