the second is personally controversial. i painted it as a background onto which i was going to paint something else--however, an impossibly attractive lady, with beautiful toes, said she loved it as it is. and if experience has taught me anything it's "yellow paint's not that expensive".

I think the second one was the most commercial value. It will be the easiest to sell :$

The first one is gritty and real, it links well with the starkness of the poem, love the eyes and the bony cleavage, it would be cool if the was blackboard paint next to the "this is not art" so viewers could write something? intereact?

the second reminds me of rolling tobaco, old ladies and china tea cups. No fucking idea why.

the third is awsome but doesnt look finished the red looks too clean for the image, it could be bleeding into the draw back or ascending into darker shades somehow.

Just thoughts and ramblings Shem hope you dont mind. Keith

wow, the photo of the third painting is art as well, with the way you placed the painting utensils!

i agree, it seems to be the most commercially viable--in term of quality, in real life, it looks unintentionally classical (i was actually trying for a more punk look), very thick and rich paint. like something you'd see hanging in the tate britain. which is why i have hesitated to make any more marks, but which is also why i have this urge to paint something obscene on it.

none of these are really finished, just to be sure. but you are right, the last one is less finished, in the sense that, the others i could probably leave as is and just put them out of my mind as "finished"; although, i like the idea of the chalk board on the first... i will think on.
the last one, however, is definitely unfinished. so hopefully it all works out in the end. cheers. and just a side note, i'd take honesty, no matter how brutal, over polite platitudes all day long.

I love what you did with this!!! Big Grin

The title seems a bit ominous. It makes me wonder what he plans to do with all those fingers ... Wink

You're so filthy... he wants to shake your hand, is all... or is it a wing, and he's an angel?

the title is stolen from a Mclusky song "she will only bring you happiness"

Note to self, be erect by half-past ten
Be strong, be proud, be able, be charmed
Be extended, be in motion, be at loggerheads with Chris
Like Chris was crisp, like Chris was crisp

Show yourself, show! show!

All the sea was coal, coal, coal!
All the sea was coal, coal, coal!
All the sea was coal, coal!
She started wondering, where is the profit here?

Note to invading aliens, avoid this town
Like this town avoided us
Like murder stalked the valley where this woman used to live
Bathe and breathe and be murdered
Bathe and breathe and be murdered
Like Chris was crisp, like Chris was crisp, was crisp

Show yourself, show! show!

All the sea was coal! coal! coal!
All the sea was coal! coal! coal!
All the sea was coal!
She started wondering, where is the profit here?

our old singer is a sex criminal (for some reason, in the single version they've changed 'sex criminal' to 'ex-criminal'... which is criminal.)

Very nice - all rounded and bunchy (that's a word we art critics use sparingly)

i LOVE So Long, Babel.
I don't know how you do it,
your technique, how
you pre-plan the painting
and though it's painted
on canvas, you make it appear
to be on wood.

I like that the balloon is red.
I believe that has spiritual significance
and the expression on the face seems
expectant. The same character's
face in This Place Says Despair, but
perhaps now he's less imposing,
not as clunky
or as awkward?
Definitely freed up,
floating away
into a better world.

Your style amazes me,
but you aren't limited.
There's a secrecy about it,
like how I felt whenever I'd see a magic show,
that same feeling of mystery and excitement.
