why do we actually need priests?
why can't we just pray to a god of our choosing in the safty of our own home.
why do we have to clump together to do it. why do we actually need a priest or even a pope for that matter.
i can't see a single arguement that warrants it. for me the whole hierarchy of every religion should be disbanded and exhumed with extreme predjudice.
you're exactly right there.the hiarchy ofcourse is there because money has to be made, power has to be had,i'm bigger than you, etc.what strikes me the most that it's predominantly men in those powerstructures, just like everywhere else.

i think if women were in charge of religions a lot of this shit we have now would be handled differently.

But religion dates back to a time where there was unchallenged male supremacy Sad.

And unfortunately some of the rules that date back millenia are still applied today Confused...

Most victims are either too scared to speak or their confessions fall in deaf ears Sad.

If you read vf's page it says:

"It is difficult to ascertain the correct statistics for clerical sexual abuse in Italy because the Italian Government has a treaty with the Vatican that guarantees areas of immunity to Vatican officials, including bishops and priests."

Clearly, the Church still has some leverage.. Undecided
