I Don’t Chase Wild Women Anymore
#1
(inspired by Ellajam)

I fear my life has become a bore,
I don’t chase wild women anymore,
—nor do they chase me—
I’ve given up the drugs and the drink,
so now if I should falter, it’s not from
worshipping at the porcelain altar,
or someone’s bathroom sink.
I’ve lived my life 3 to their 1,
but this fourth one is not so much fun,
and I’m feeling so very tired and undone
—better when I was insane—
I guess I can’t complain.
Better than formaldehyde in,
and blood swirling
down,
down,
down

…the drain!
How long after picking up the brush, the first masterpiece?

The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.

Excellent if veracity verse and doubly so if not.
Lovin' it, sadly.

The wild days, they had their use,
the endless nights and rash abuse.
I would not trade them, what a ride
but eventually all things subside.
Each year past thirty was a gift,
now a teacup's all I lift.

Tom, unfortunately, it is. Good catch, I meant to remove the comma, after I added the em dash. My screen has too much trash on it.

Marcella, nice counter poem, but does the teacup have sugar and cream? I've been told I must rid myself of both. Caffeine, in moderation is still OK, but then I have never done anything in moderation.

ha, I can eat anything, that's the only thing I do in moderation. And in truth, that's caffeine, milk and sugar in the biggest cup I can find. Woohoo, still livin large. Hysterical
